The Navaar House is a family run
Restaurant and Bar. Built in 1875 by Professor James Cossar Ewart. Originally
called ‘The Bungalow’ Ewart established a ‘Natural History Station’ on the
premises, where he kept a menagerie of animals. Ewart’s most famous experiments
involved crossbreeding Zebras & Horses. The results of which were published
in 1899 as ‘The Pennycuik Experiments’.
